Abstract

PURPOSE
Endovascular treatment of thoracic aortic pat hology has significantly reduced morbidity and mortality rates over open surgery, however long-term follow-up data is still limited. The conformable Gore thoracic stent graft has been available since 2009. This study reports our experience using the Gore cTAG device over the past 10 years for endovascular treatment of thoracic aortic pathology.
METHODOLOGY
Hospital coding data was interrogated for all thoracic aorta procedures performed at Flinders Medical Centre between January 2011 and December 2020. Cases were reviewed for the use of Gore cTAG thoracic stent. El ectronic and Paper based medical records were reviewed for perioperative mortality and complications (access vessel, target vessel and syst emic). Reintervention, complications and all- cause mortality were collected to 1 June 2021.
RESULTS
Between January 2011 and December 2020, 160 Gore cTAG devices were implanted into 85 patients with an average age of 67yrs ( 16-93yrs). 68% of cases were performed in males. 37% of cases were performed with hybrid surgery of the ascending aorta and/ or aortic arch. Clinical indication for treatment was dissection in 42%, aneurysm in 29% and other pat hologies in 29%. Total follow up time averaged 3.07yrs (0.04- 8.53yrs). There was 100% freedom from intraoperative
mortality and 3.5% peri-operative mortality. St roke occurred in 7.1% of cases. Reintervention occurred in 24% of patients, 25% of which were for endoleak, with a median time to r e-int ervention of 8 days (0-2199 days).
CONCLUSION
This single centre data has shown that Gore cTAG is safe and durable for the treatment of all thoracic aortic pathologies over the medium to long term.
