    Abstract

Why is there a call for transformation in pharmacy education? “With the increased emphasis of governments to provide greater access to and improve responsible medication use, appropriately linking the pharmacy curriculum and its outcomes to national needs has become a visible global agenda” responds Dr Henri Manasse Jr. “In essence, education is the foundation of our profession. And it is not only affecting our profession – calls are being made for the education of all health professionals to become more socially accountable, given the substantial use of government funds by universities to educate such professionals."
