Abstract
The calculation of accident rate statistics is of great importance in the identification of employee groups who, as a consequence of their jobs, are at the greatest risk of physical danger. A meaningful statistic of risk requires data on labour quantity within each occupation and/or industry group. This article illustrates that such statistics can, and should, be calculated, and uses data for Queensland for the period 1984/85 to 1985/86.
