Abstract
While the spate of publications exploring Australia’s involvement in the First World War has tended to represent and celebrate overseas service, a number of books have turned attention to the home front, and this is one of them. The topic, the civilian internment of ‘enemy aliens’, has received some recent exposure in exhibitions and publications. For the first time, here a close examination is undertaken of the internment camp set up on Rottnest Island.
