Abstract
One approach to health inequities has been to introduce the social determinants of health in medical education, so that health care practitioners may understand how conditions in which people are born, live and age exacerbate health differences.1 Clinical teachers can contribute to alleviating health disadvantages by teaching practitioners to better understand the pathways by which social disadvantage translates to depressed health outcomes, and intervene accordingly.
