Twenty years of the Journal of Lymphoedema — editorial reflections of our needs, what we have done to provide them and where the gaps still are

To gain a feeling of the issues and questions problems and solutions for all of us and for the patients we aim to serve, I’ve focussed on some of our editorials and articles from the last 19 years.

Our first issue was in October of 2006 and in it, Prof Christine Moffatt clearly stated that the Journal’s aim was to “put lymphoedema care on the map and help develop the clinical practice of all health professionals”. The hope of Christine then was that it would contribute to raising the profile of lymphoedema throughout the world! In those early days, there was reliance on support from industry partners and in this respect, the first were Haddenham, Activa, Medi, Huntleigh Health Care and Jobst.
