Abstract

Policy documents and clinical guidelines for water immersion (WI) during labour and birth in Australia generally suggest that healthy women at low risk of complications can be offered the opportunity to labour and birth in water. However, specific concerns about safety of WI are almost always related to the health of the neonate.
