Abstract

Vasopressor agents, especially those stimulating alpha adrenergic receptors, target vasoconstriction in the arterioles and can compromise the microcirculation in the skin and underlying tissues. Therefore, it may be assumed that ICU patients who undergo vasopressor therapy are at an increased risk for pressure injuries. But does this really hold true? Despite vasopressor use being generally considered a risk factor for pressure injuries, the evidence supporting this assumption is inconclusive...
