title = "Welcome to the Cave",
abstract = "In this theatrical performance designed for the Void, participants will immerse themselves in Plato{\textquoteright}s Allegory of the Cave. Invited to attend a wellness retreat held in a cave, they will play games and do activities guided by the actors with the goal of unplugging and becoming more mindful and self-aware. But all is not as it seems. Through interactions with one another, two in-person actors, and three AI characters, they will collaboratively solve puzzles and ultimately escape the Cave. • What strategies for character design are best for creating believable, compelling characters for player-audiences? • How does AI character design impact play? • How might we use Stanislavsky{\textquoteright}s method to craft character sheets that keep our AIs in-character, despite prompts that normally derail AI? • How can we craft a Director AI to govern behaviour of character AIs? • What techniques must we employ in a pipeline of programming to animation to create smooth dialogue between audiences and characters in a live show?",
