Abstract

This year the Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Special Issue is something different. As we celebrate International Women's Day this month, we have chosen to highlight women in ophthalmology in the issue. Although traditionally a profession dominated by men, the number of women ophthalmologists has been steadily increasing. Globally, 25%–30% of ophthalmologists and 35%–45% of ophthalmology trainees are now women.
